Statement on Separation of Children and Parents

The Children's Mental Health Campaign strongly opposes immigration policy that separates children from their parents and caregivers. Keeping families intact ensures greater well-being and safety for children. Separating migrant families, including refugee families, causes inexcusable emotional trauma and harmful developmental consequences for children. The Campaign encourages agencies and elected officials to develop policies that prioritize the social-emotional well-being of children and families and protects them from harmful separation.
